Loved this hostel in Medan. If you want a local experience then this is it. A lot of local students and everyone was really nice + the owner is available and helpful with everything and speaks good English ! Nice common area to hangout and the neighborhood is so cozy - small streets and shops warungs, friendly people everywhere and authentic feeling - no hassle no problems only smiles everywhere. Definitely recommend for people who want to see real life and culture. I was supposed to stay only one night but ended up staying 3. Don’t hesitate 😀

Positives: room appeared to have clean bedding. Location was good. WiFi OK. Negatives: dirty communal areas, toilet dirty, showers dirty, hair on the floor and animal poo in the floor. There appears to be people living for long-term in the hostel, who are were noisy at 5:30am.

The rooms are clean, the people are nice, the facilities are pretty good. For the price, this is a great hostel. If you are looking for fancy, you may want to reconsider. If you want a well located hostel with a good facility and nice folks, this may be worthy of checking out.

Dazhong Bagpacker hostel in medan The rooms are comfortable and clean, the service is good and friendly, the location is rather inside, but it is not a problem because now online transportation is easily accessible. Around the hostel there are lots of food and mini markets, the hostel owners are very friendly, polite and kind :)

Stayed 1 night, on my way to Bukit Lawan. This is the worst hostel in my life. After checking in, I was taken to another building, 100m away from the reception. The place looks like a student dormitory, many local females are living there. My room is just next to the kitchen, where the girls stayed till late. At around 11pm, one girl burst into tears in the kitchen. I felt bit odd staying with these girls. The building is dark, no lights in the corridor to the toilet/shower. No sink to brush my teeth.(there is one sink but it's blocked and smells bad) The room is smelly, I doubt that the bedding had been changed because of its smell. No balcony.(booking.com says the room has balcony) The owner was really pushy, try to sell a trekking tour in Bukit Lawan. He did it via emails and when I checked in too. If you are buying a jungle trekking tour, please buy one from local people, not people from Medan. So that your money goes to locals! Location and wi-fi connection were the only good things here.
